COLUMBUS, OH – Mission Essential Personnel (MEP) announced today that Sunil Ramchand, Executive Director of the White House Military Office’s (WHMO) Policy, Plans and Requirements directorate has become MEP’s Chief of Staff. Ramchand served at the White House in numerous capacities during the administrations of Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama.
As Executive Director, Ramchand managed a multi-billion dollar enterprise responsible for providing contingency plans, capabilities, and critical infrastructure to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the presidency. Additionally, he coordinated the development and implementation of WHMO’s strategic plan, which focuses the efforts of over 2,300 personnel toward meeting the needs of the current and future Presidents. Most recently, Ramchand led WHMO’s presidential transition team, in which he coordinated the transfer of military support services from President Bush to President Obama. Ramchand graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He served on active duty in the Navy as a surface warfare officer for eight years, and as a defense department civil servant for six years.
As MEP’s chief of staff, Ramchand will support MEP’s CEO by coordinating all departments and staff, overseeing development and implementation of the strategic plan, and advising the senior executive team on strategy and process.
“Sunil brings exceptional leadership and broad senior-level experience to MEP. As a strategic planner and implementer dealing with large budgets and complex organizational issues across many constituencies, he is the ideal addition to the MEP team,” CEO Chris Taylor said. “Sunil's integrity, vision, and organizational skills will be integral to our long-term strategic plan.”
“I’m honored to join MEP and look forward to working with its new senior management team as we shape and grow the company,” Ramchand said.
